Many of us at Freshwater have fond memories of Smitty’s, Alberta’s favourite family restaurant – so it was with delight that we found ourselves working on a new website for Smitty’s. As times have changed, so has Smitty’s audience, and they are currently working on refreshing their restaurants with a new look, new menu, and a new approach.

The Website
The new Smitty's website is designed to build on Smitty's refreshed brand, with a clean and contemporary look. It's food-forward approach highlights their new menu, and with a minimalist approach is the ideal vehicle to showcase new promotions and offerings. A Wordpress CMS integration gives them the flexibility they need to update their site without relying on complex coding knowledge. Like all of our sites, the Smitty's site was built SEO primed to ensure content is read clearly by search engines, boosting it's page rank.
Brand and Illustrations
What started as a few mood boards for the web site grew into more - colour choices and illustrations were adopted into their brand, and we were engaged to create a series of illustrations that reflected the new menu offering, and could be used across social media, print, and in-store materials.
As a franchise, Smitty's needs a quick and easy way to provide documents, learning guides, and to provide franchisees with equipment and print materials to successfully run their restaurants. We built them a B2B e-commerce site available to franchisees only, that allows managers to purchase products for their restaurants and download materials as needed.
The Results
In the months after launch, Smitty's audience has doubled. User engagement and time spent on site are both greatly increased.
